The second annual Nature InFocus (NIF) photography festival in July this year brought together not just the top names in conservation but an emerging army of wildlife photographers from across the country. Around 300 photographers attended the three-day festival in Bangalore, and participated in workshops, seminars, masterclasses and even spirited discussions over ethics, wildlife tourism, and the relevance of social media in the battle plan for conservation. Kalyan Varma and Rohit Varma, the founders of the festival, aim to use this space to build a ever-growing community of passionate nature photographers, who can – through shared knowledge and expertise – use the art of capturing moments in the wild for spreading awareness and facilitating conservation.

Here are the winners of the photography awards. The sheer brilliance and attention to detail in these photographs heralds in a new age in wildlife photography.
